Upcoming review of Pedestrian and Cycling infrastructure for Civic/City

The Department of  Territory and Municipal Services have appointed external consultants Cardno to conduct a review of the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure within the ACT and in particular in the Civic centre, as shown in the diagram attached. TAMS will be discussing  with the North Canberra Community council what is  seen as positives and negatives with pedestrian and  cycle facilities within the Civic centre and as such TAMS will be organising a workshop in the coming weeks. Crimestoppers: Police seek witnesses to unprovoked attack – Civic (28 August 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an unprovoked attack on a 20-year-old man in Civic August 28, 2009. About 2.40am, police conducting foot patrols on East Row, Civic observed three males attack the male victim while he was seated on the roadside curb. The alleged offenders are unknown to the victim.

Section 63 (City) Estate Development Plan: Development Application open for comment (closing 9 September 2009)

ACTPLA have notified that development application 200915210 for an “Estate Development Plan” has been lodged by CB Richard Ellis for portions of Section 63 and is currently open for public comment until 9 September 2009. North Canberra Community Council reminds the community that individuals are entitled to inspect, lodge comments and make their own representations on this development application.

Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to nightclub assault – Civic (31 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault which occurred at the Mooseheads Pub and Nightclub in Civic July 31. Around 1am police found a 23-year-old Jerrabomberra man in Verity Lane, Civic receiving first aid treatment from the venue’s security staff. It was established the man had been upstairs, inside the nightclub, when he was struck to the left side of his head with a broken glass.

Canberra Times: QIC airs $350m proposal for Civic

On Saturday 1 August 2009, the Canberra Times ran an article alleging that QIC, owners of the Canberra Centre, had been land-banking prime real estate in the City. QIC have subsequently revealed  plans for a $350million mixed-use development including a tower of apartments facing Cooyong Street. Crimestoppers: Police investigating Civic armed robbery – City (22 July 2009)

ACT Policing is currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Ticketek outlet on Akuna Street in Civic earlier this afternoon (July 22). Around 1.20pm the man entered the premises and passed a note to the attendant, demanding money whilst threatening her that he had a gun. He then fled the store after an amount of cash was passed to him. The staff member did not see the gun, and was not injured during the incident.

Crimestoppers: Bus driver assaulted – City (13 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault on an Action bus driver at the City bus interchange today (July 13). Around 3.25pm the victim asked three men not to board his bus, located at platform one, after a discrepancy over the price of a ticket. One of the offenders then punched the bus driver three times before all three men fled in the direction of Bunda Street.
