Reminder: Invitation to comment on Community Facility Zones (Closing 23 October 2009)

The ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has released an online discussion paper which examines the Community Facility Zone Development Code and associated development tables. Community facility zones are traditionally associated with things like child care or community centres, cultural facilities and places of worship. The paper (reproduced below) identifies key questions about how the code and table might be revised.

Public Meeting: Canberra Airport – 2010 Preliminary Draft Environment Strategy (20 October 2009)

A preliminary version of the 2010 Canberra Airport Draft Environment Strategy has been prepared by Canberra Airport Pty Ltd. The commencement of the public consultation period was advertised in the Canberra Times and Chronicles on the 29 September 2009. Canberra Airport now advise that a public meeting will be held to discuss the Preliminary Draft Environment Strategy. Public forums on proposal for ACT Government to buy Calvary Hospital (16/21 October 2009)

You may have heard in the media that the ACT Government has commenced public consultation on a proposed change to the ownership and governance of Calvary Public Hospital and Clare Holland House. The Government and Little Company of Mary Health Care have reached in-principle agreement on the proposed changes and the Government now wishes to consult with the Canberra community about the best way to proceed.  The consultation will run from 1 October to 12 November 2009.  

Invitation to comment: Issues in relation to shopping trolleys

ACT Greens MLA, Caroline Le Couteur is consulting in preparation of potentially formulating legislation and introducing a private members bill before the Legislative Assembly in relation to issues regarding shopping trolleys.. Ms. Le Couteur is currently soliciting public comment and feedback on how she should approach the issue.

Invitation to Comment: Second draft of the ACT Multicultural Strategy 2010 – 2013 (closing 5 November 2009)

The ACT Government is seeking written comment or submissions from individuals or organisations on the second draft of the ACT Multicultural Strategy 2010 -2013. Following the initial round of community consultation, the draft includes an updated structure, as well as new content.

Invitation to comment: Community Facility Zone Development Code and Table policy review (closing 23 October 2009)

The Community Facility Zone Development Code (CFZDC) and its associated Development Table is currently being reviewed as part of the Territory Plan review. A discussion paper has been released seeking comment from the ACT community about how the code and table might be revised. Key questions have been identified, based on ACTPLA’s recent research and experiences. However these are intended only as a basis for discussion and suggestions about additional potential issues and policy measures are welcome.

Public Consultation: Roadside memorials (closing 16 October 2009)

The Department of Transport and Municipal Services has released a discussion paper and is seeking public comment on roadside memorials which will assist in the development of a formal ACT Government policy on the placement of roadside memorials in the ACT. The ACT Government recently made a commitment to develop a policy for the placement of roadside memorials. The policy will also outline how the views and impact on residents in adjacent properties are to be considered
