The ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has released a discussion paper seeking public comment on ideas for the Eastern Broadacre area, particularly parts that may be suitable for future employment development. Eastern Broadacre includes the Majura Valley / Symonston / Hume corridor. Have your say about new rules for disability services

Commonwealth, State and Territory governments want to hear from people about what rules (standards) should be in place for disability services. This consultation is currently underway. These rules will be used by disability service providers all over Australia. Governments are setting the rules to make sure all people who use disability services have the same idea about what a good quality service means.

The ACT Government’s proposed road side drug testing Bill has been released for public comment ahead of its expected introduction in the Legislative Assembly in July 2010. The Road Transport (Drug Driving) Bill 2010 and Road Transport (Drug Driving) Regulation 2010 provides a comprehensive model for addressing drug-impaired driving in the ACT. The Bill gives ACT police new powers to conduct random road side drug tests to detect the presence of illicit drugs such as cannabis, methylamphetamine and ecstasy using an oral fluid screening test. Outdoor Cafe Policy goes out to public consultation (closing 25 June 2010)

The Office of Regulatory Services (ORS) exercises certain responsibilities under the Roads and Public Places Act 1937. Among these responsibilities is the issuing of outdoor cafe permits. The Outdoor Cafe Policy (the Policy) sets out guidelines on the permit application process, appropriate clearance zones for footpaths and furniture, and other information on the conditions of use for an outdoor cafe permit. The Policy’s main objective is to maximise the benefits between outdoor cafe areas and other public uses of unleased territory land in the ACT. Potential redevelopment of Section 52 and 57 Braddon and Section 7 Reid – information sessions (01 & 03 June 2010)

The Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services (DHCS) would like to invite interested members of the community to a presentation on the Planning Study into the possible redevelopment of land in Braddon and Reid. The land in Braddon is currently occupied by Currong Apartments, Allawah Court and buildings owned by the Catholic Church. The land in Reid is currently occupied by Bega Court. Invitation to Comment: Community Aviation Consultation Groups – Draft guildelines (closing 28 May 2010)

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government is seeking community input from the North Canberra Community Council (and others) on draft guidelines for Community Aviation Consultation Groups for the leased federal airports. The establishment of Community Aviation Consultation Groups was an initiative of the National Aviation Policy White Paper. Comments on the draft guidelines are sought by close of business 28 May 2010.

NCCC Submission: Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines for the ACT

Reproduced below is the North Canberra Community Council response to the Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines which Aurecon has prepared a summary report for stakeholder consultation. At time of publication of this item the North Canberra Community Council was still seeking clarification from Aurecon on whether this opportunity to provide submissions and comment represented the the end of consultation prior to issuing a recommendation to government, or whether a further public consultation on the guidelines would be offered.
