Ainslie Village "Our Stories" mural

On 2 July 2009, the ACT Minister for Disability and Housing, Mr John Hargreaves launched a mural at Ainslie Village, planned and developed by residents. The “Our Stories” mural project began back in February. Interested Ainslie Village residents were given sketch books and asked to develop ideas representing one of the stories of their lives.

Majura Festival – Community Consultation (8 July 2009)

The Majura Festival has been run as an annual event by the Northside Community Service (NCS) since 2000. Since then, it has evolved to a visible cultural event signifying the close linkages that have developed between NCS and the local community. NCCC Media Release 22 June 2009 The Chair of the North Canberra Community Council (NCCC), Jochen Zeil, has called for more information on the proposed Majura Parkway Realignment and a public information meeting on the new road. Mr Zeil stated, “The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) makes it clear that the real reason for the unnecessarily expensive and environmentally damaging major realignment of the Parkway is to enable a future Very High Speed Train (VHST) to connect to Canberra Airport.
