North Canberra Community Council Meeting Wednesday, 20 May 2009, 19:30 ACT Sports House 100 Maitland Street, Hackett The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) is the umbrella organization for Resident Associations and Community Groups in North Canberra. The NCCC is the one-stop-shop for Government and the community to communicate. The NCCC is run by volunteers and membership is free. As a resident of North Canberra you are invited to become a member and participate in committee meetings. Sir John Hackett Essay Competition (Entries open until 15 August 2009)

All young people living in Hackett and in school years 5-12 are invited to enter this competition being held by the Hackett Community Association with the support of local schools and the Australian Dictionary of Biography.  Essays should be 250-500 words long for Years 5-6; approximately 600 words for Years 7-8; 900-1000 words for Years 9-10 and 1000-1200 words for Years 11-12. The topic is: “The person after whom your street in Hackett is named”.  Where the street is named after more than one person (eg. Invitation for Submissions: ACT Budget 2009-2010

The ACT Legislative Assembly Select Committee on Estimates 2009-2010 is seeking public submissions on the Appropriation Bill 2009-2010, and any revenue estimates proposed by the ACT Government in the 2009-2010 budget The Committee welcomes submissions from all interested parties and members of the public. The Committee would like to receive any submission by 12 May 2009.

Public Consultation: Family and Community Day

Public consultation has opened and will run until 29 May 2009 on the future of the Family & Community Day public holiday. At the time of the original consultation in 2007, community feedback to the Government indicated a range of options including a family orientated public holiday associated with the Melbourne Cup as well as a similar focus for the Territory’s great spring festival, Floriade. The ACT Government is now looking to the future, and to assist in its decision making the would like to know people’s views.
