Community Consultation Session: Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools (6 June 2009 – Turner School)

As part of the Government’s commitment to addressing the needs of students with a disability in the ACT, a Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools is currently being undertaken. The Review will look at research into leading national and international practice in curriculum and pedagogy for students with disabilities. New park in Acton – Latin American Plaza

The Chief Minister has proposed that a park opened on 25 May 2009 on Childers Street in Acton be known as the Latin American Plaza and dedicated to the celebration of multiculturalism. Heads of diplomatic missions for Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Venezuela, Uruguay, Peruand Brazil joined the Chief Minister on site for the opening, which also coincided with Argentina’s national day, Revolución de Mayo. Community Consultation Forum: ACT Disability Policy Framework 2009-2014 (3 June 2009)

The ACT Government is updating its policy framework to improve outcomes and opportunities for Canberrans who have a disability. The policy will guide priority areas for disability policy and service delivery through to 2014. The updated framework will build on the work of the current ACT disability framework, Future Directions: A Framework for the ACT 2004-2009 as well as assist in achieving goals outlined in Challenge 2014 – A ten year vision for disability in the ACT.
