The September 29 2009 edition of the Chronicle ran a story written by Elliot Woods reporting on the consultation for Master Planning for the Dickson Group Centre. Residents, business and land owners, developers, government officials, regional workers and shoppers all met on Thursday evening to plot the future of Dickson’s town centre. Federal Environment Minister rejects protection of threatened species on Australian Heritage Village site

The Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, Peter Garrett AM MP has rejected a request from the Watson Community Association to protect remnant White Box, Yellow Box and Blakely’s Red Gum grassy woodlands on the Australian Heritage Village redevelopment site. Invitation to comment: Community Facility Zone Development Code and Table policy review (closing 23 October 2009)

The Community Facility Zone Development Code (CFZDC) and its associated Development Table is currently being reviewed as part of the Territory Plan review. A discussion paper has been released seeking comment from the ACT community about how the code and table might be revised. Key questions have been identified, based on ACTPLA’s recent research and experiences. However these are intended only as a basis for discussion and suggestions about additional potential issues and policy measures are welcome.
