Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to suspicious fire, Lyneham (Friday 08 January 2010)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a house fire in De Burgh St, Lyneham, which is suspected to have started around 9.30pm last night (Friday, January 8). The house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze but suffered extensive damage. At this time, police are treating the fire as suspicious. AFP Forensic Services attended and conducted investigations. It is suspected that the source of the fire was around the front verandah of the house. ACT Policing: 24/7 patrols planned as police gear up for Summernats

ACT Policing is scheduling around-the-clock traffic enforcement patrols of the areas surrounding Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) and additional patrols of the city’s entertainment precincts over the Summernats car festival period beginning today (Thursday, January 7). Police intend to clamp down rigorously on any irresponsible and/or dangerous driving behaviour and have issued a reminder to all motorists that under ACT legislation, police have the power to seize vehicles for burnouts, menacing driving or street racing on public roadways.

Invitation to comment: Proposed Wetlands – Dickson and Lyneham (closing 6 Janurary 2010)

The ACT Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water are soliciting public comment on the proposed Dickson and Lyneham Wetlands Project. The Canberra Integrated Urban Waterways team are working with consultants to design the proposed Dickson and Lyneham wetlands. As well as providing water quality improvements and increased urban aquatic habitat, these water features will supply stormwater to irrigate playing fields in Canberra’s inner north.

Invitation to comment: Lyneham Sport and Recreation Precinct DA 200915725 (Closing 23 December 2009)

The Development Application for the Lyneham Sport and Recreation Precinct has been lodged and is now on public notification. The documents are available on the ACTPLA web site. ACTPLA shared a version of the master plan with the North Canberra Community Council and others in August, and ACTPLA thought it appropriate to notify these groups of the commencement of this public notification period.
