AFP Professional Standards is investigating the discharge of a police firearm by an officer during an incident involving the attempted interception of a stolen car on Northbourne Avenue July 31, 2009 around 5pm.

Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to theft of photographic equipment – Dickson (31 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident Friday, July 31, 2009 in which a Mazda vehicle parked in Dickson had been broken into and photographic equipment valued around $25,000 stolen from it. The vehicle, a Mazda Tribute, had been parked and secured in the public carpark bounded by Woolley and Cape Streets in Dickson between 6.15pm and 6.45pm.

Canberra Times: ACT on board to connect east coast

On the 14th of July, The Canberra Times ran an article reporting the ACT Government position on a very fast train (VFT) linking Canberra to other eastern seaboard cities. It appears that the Majura Parkway upgrade route has not been predicated on the real traffic and transportation needs but rather “pie in the sky” conceptual plans for a VFT route which are unlikely to see the light of day in the near or foreseeable future.

Roadworks creating problems for Pialligo residents and businesses

The ABC Canberra TV news provided the following report on the impact road construction and upgrades around the airport and entrance to the suburb of Pialligo is creating for residents and local businesses. Roads ACT have indicated that road-works should be complete by the end of July, but in the interim temporary traffic lights are being considered.   The North Canberra Community Council encourages residents and businesses to contact the Council if they continue to have problems with access to the suburb after the temporary traffic lights are installed or there are unreasonable delays in the implementation of these temporary …

The Infrastructure Upgrade and Construction at Canberra Airport, ACT, is to be undertaken by Canberra Airport, to improve aeronautical infrastructure, construction of a new traffic control tower and upgrades of roads.

Signalisation Knox and Antill Street

The issue of signalization of the Knox Street and Antill Street intersection in Watson was flagged in a Draft Land Use Master Plan North Watson consultants report dated 28 March 2003. The Watson Community Association has produced a comparison of peak-hour morning and afternoon traffic numbers at this intersection on 20 November 2002 and a later survey conducted by Roads ACT in the week from September 22 – September 29 in 2008.
