Reminder: Canberra Airport Draft Master Plan submissions close on 8th May 2009

In accordance with the Airports Act 1996, Canberra International Airport is required to prepare and submit a draft Master Plan for the approval of the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, for a 20 year horizon every five years. An integral part of that process includes the Airport accepting and considering submissions from the public and engaging in community consultation. Imminent approval of Draft Variation 261 Watson

ACTPLA reviewing provisions – residential mid size blocks (>250m2 to 500m2) in greenfield estates

On the 24th March 2009 at 10:30AM the NCCC received the following email advisory from ACTPLA seeking written comments by 31st March 2009: Dear Sir/ Madam As part of the broader review of the Territory Plan, the ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) is also reviewing the provisions for residential mid size blocks (>250m2 to 500m2)in greenfield estates. Canberra International Airport is planning massive expansion under its latest draft Master Plan. It wants to become Sydney’s second airport, including a 24-hour airfreight hub. Unlike Sydney, we don’t have a night time curfew. There will be bigger planes with much greater frequency – up to 1 plane movement every 2 minutes.
