Crimestoppers: Police seek witnesses to incident in park, Civic (1 January 2010)

Crimestoppers logoACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred in Glebe Park in Civic yesterday (January 1).

Around 12.55am four victims all aged 19 (three females and one male) were in the playground area of the park on Akuna Street when they were approached by a group of about 12 youths consisting of approximately ten males and two females.

Members of the group assaulted the male and one of the females by kicking and punching them and stole a mobile telephone. Both victims sustained minor injuries.

Most of the offenders were described as being of Islander appearance and aged around 16-17, and all wearing long trousers and shirts or jackets.

One of the males was described as being of Islander appearance, aged 16-17, around 173cms (5’8”) tall with a skinny build and black curly short hair. He was described as wearing a blue t-shirt with writing on the chest and tracksuit pants.

Another male was described as Caucasian in appearance, aged 16-17, with blond to light-brown hair in a “rooster” style. He was described as wearing a white t-shirt.

One of the females was described as Islander in appearance with bleached blonde hair and wearing a white t-shirt. The other female was described as Caucasian in appearance, aged 16-17 and had light-brown shoulder-length hair.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen a group of youths in the vicinity of Glebe Park around the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
