ACT Policing is seeking information about a suspicious man seen outside the IGA supermarket in Lyneham on Saturday afternoon (September 12).
The man, who was riding a silver bicycle, approached a 7-year-old girl out the front of the supermarket about 5.30pm, asking her if she wanted to come for a ride with him.
The child said nothing and walked closer towards the entrance of the shop, at which time the man left the area.
He is described as about 40-50 years old and of a medium build, with short white/grey receding hair and a short grey goatee beard. At the time he was wearing a black hooded jumper, black track pants and brown shoes.
ACT Policing encourages parents to discuss ‘stranger danger’ with their children to ensure they know how important it is not to give their private details to people they don’t know. Kids should also be educated on inappropriate behaviour patterns, including unacceptable touching or language, and the offering of gifts or transport.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who may know the identity of the male described is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Anybody with any information about this crime or any other crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Report Crime Online.
