Design options workshop session – Campbell Section 5 Master Plan Project

The Land Development Agency (LDA) invites residents, business owners and community groups from Campbell to have their say on the future of Campbell Section 5. Campbell Section 5 is ACT Government owned land located on the northern edge of Constitution Avenue and east of Anzac Parade. Consultation is ongoing, and the LDA is working with the local community to design a master plan for the future of the site.

Traffic Lights in Watson

Recently a resident contacted the NCCC querying the placement of pedestrian lights near the intersection of Antill and Knox Streets which he considered were in the wrong spot by some 20 meters. The observation was that few pedestrians will use the lights, the lights will not reduce traffic speeds on Antill St and hence the lights were poorly planned and a waste of money.

More happy campers after EPIC rejuvenation

A rejuvenation program highlighted in the Exhibition Park (EPIC) Annual Report for 2010-2011, will provide more low-cost accommodation for visitors to Canberra, especially school children. As part of the rejuvenation program, the ACT Government has provided $4.1 million for major upgrades to the Budawang Pavilion, toilets and shower blocks, signage and the capture of non-potable water for use on site. Final changes to ACT Legislative Assembly electoral boundaries announced

The final make-up of the ACT Legislative Assembly electoral boundaries for the 2012 election has been announced today by the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Mr Phillip Green. “The Augmented ACT Electoral Commission has decided to alter the existing electoral boundaries by adopting the Redistribution Committee’s proposal to transfer the Gungahlin suburbs of Crace and Palmerston from the electorate of Molonglo to the electorate of Ginninderra. Community drop-in information session – Campbell Section 5 Master Plan Project

The Land Development Agency (LDA) invites the residents, business owners and community groups of Campbell to attend a community drop-in information session regarding the development of the Campbell Section 5 Master Plan. The LDA will develop a detailed plan of subdivision and construct the streets and a new park as part of the realisation of the Griffin Legacy proposal for Constitution Avenue. Campbell Section 5 is the vacant parcel of land located on the northern edge of Constitution Avenue and east of ANZAC Parade and is bound by Creswell Street and Chowne Street.

Introduction to ACAT decision 61 Griffith

Have you even been curious about ACT Civic and Administrative Tribunal decisions? ACAT decision 61 of for a 160 bed Residential Aged Care Facility in Griffith was released on 12 September 2011. The Tribunal has constituted that no plot ratio applies to developments of this type on Community Facility Zoned land, and that a number of significant trees on the site can be removed despite advice given by the Conservator of Flora and Fauna. On 8 September 2011. the Standing Committee on Climate Change, Environment and Water held the first sitting of an inquiry into the ecological carrying capacity of the ACT and region. Introduction to ACT Strategic Regional Plan 2011-12

The ACT Strategic Regional Plan 2011-12 was formally launched in mid-September 2011 by the ACT Chief Minister. The Government is providing $4.3 billion of funding to local regions through the Regional Development Australia Fund. The role of Regional Development Australia (ACT) is to support local development. The ACT was unsuccessful in attracting funding for Round 1 of the initial $1 billion fund. The ACT Government and community groups can apply for local project funding, which can range from a minimum $500,000 to maximum $25 per project.
