Grevillea Park Master Plan – Drop-in information session 19 November

The Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate invites you to attend a drop-in information session regarding the Grevillea Park Master plan. The Master plan has been developed using urban design and planning principles to provide a vision for Grevillea Park as a recreational hub for community use. The National Capital Authority, which is responsible for the management of Lake Burley Griffin, supports the development of water-based recreational facilities at Grevillea Park.

Chief Minister Responds to our motion on light rail stops

At our October meeting we passed a motion that called on the ACT Government, if it does build the light rail, to commit to: * building all of the fifteen light rail stops shown in the September Industry Briefing presentation unless there is a business case that clearly demonstrates the advantages of having fewer stops; * publishing the criteria that it intends to use to determine which stops to retain; and * conducting public consultation on which stops should be retained. Campbell Section 5 update – National Capital Authority works approval

Campbell Section 5 is a proposed multi-storey mixed use development on the north east corner of the intersection of Anzac Parade and Constitution Avenue.  The NCA invites interested people and organisations to provide written comments on the proposed Campbell Section 5 Display Suite by close of business on 21 November 2014. Have your say on the future of the Dickson community cultural precinct

The Dickson community cultural precinct (Dickson Section 72) is the area to the east of the Dickson Aquatic Centre, bounded by Antill Street, the Dickson playing fields and the shared community path that leads from the Dickson shops at Cowper Street to Dickson College on Philip Avenue. Its current zoning prohibits residential development. The ACT Government is proposing to change the zoning of the whole of Section 72 to a Commercial Zone that would allow residential development. The proposal forms a part of its Omnibus Territory Plan Variation (see link below) which will allow zoning changes at 17 sites across the ACT. Report on North Canberra Community Council Public Meeting 15 October 2014

Philip Habel opened the meeting with a presentation and discussion on the Lyneham Commons Food Forest. Report supports Braddon Club site for community purposes

A North Canberra Community Council survey shows that North Canberra residents want the Braddon Club site to remain available for community purposes such as recreation, community activities or a playing field. “The Braddon Club site was part of the Northbourne Oval from 1925 until 1998. In 2006 the Canberra Raiders paid $420,000 for a lease that allows them to use the site only for the purpose of a club, and prevents them from selling it without the approval of the planning and land authority.
