New bus fares are in force as of 1 July 2009. Bus fares will increase by an average 11 per cent and university students will no longer be eligible for a student fare, instead having to pay the concession fare rate.
Tertiary Students
From 1 July 2009, tertiary students will now pay a Concession Fare. A tertiary student is eligible for a concession fare if they are a full time student attending an accredited tertiary education institution.
Valid Student Identification
Students must show the driver a valid student identification (ID) card to use concession fares. The ID must:
- be issued by the Tertiary Institution
- have full-time marked on the student ID card
- include photo identification
Concession fares are half the price of adult fares and can be used 7 days a week.
