To celebrate National Recycling Week from 9 – 15 November 2009, the Department of Territory and Municipal Services is launching a recycling competition. The competition aims to raise awareness about recycling and bust some common myths. For instance, many people do not realise that in the ACT, empty aerosol cans should go into the yellow-topped recycling bins.
The prizes are worth over $1600 and include Westfield shopping centre vouchers, Hoyts family movie passes and specially manufactured USB drives. The competition will run from Tuesday 10 November 2009 until Friday 4 December 2009.
Residents can enter the competition by downloading this entry form or by cutting one out of a Canberra Chronicle. Complete the form, attach it with sticky tape to the outside of an empty aerosol can and place it into the yellow-topped household recycling bin. Entries in recycling bins collected between 10 November and 10 am on 4 December will be in the draw.
