PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSIONS The Department of Disability Housing and Community Services (DHCS) would like to invite interested members of the community to an information session on a planning study into the potential redevelopment of land in Braddon and Reid. The land in Braddon is currently occupied by Currong Apartments, Allawah Court and buildings owned by the Catholic Church. The land in Reid is currently occupied by Bega Court. Invitation to Comment: Second draft of the ACT Multicultural Strategy 2010 – 2013 (closing 5 November 2009)

The ACT Government is seeking written comment or submissions from individuals or organisations on the second draft of the ACT Multicultural Strategy 2010 -2013. Following the initial round of community consultation, the draft includes an updated structure, as well as new content.

Canberra Times: Race to save 'heritage' cottage

The Canberra Times has an article about the demolition and redevelopment of a weatherboard cottage in Ainslie owned by the ACT Department of Housing and Community Services. A developer acting on behalf of the department lodged a development application to demolish the existing building, and replace it with ”two new brick veneer structures”. It is understood that the building was the caretaker’s cottage in the 1920s for the Ainslie bus terminus, one of Canberra’s first transport hubs, but has been excluded from the Corroboree Park Housing Precinct, a heritage-listed area that ends just over the cottage’s fence.
