Signalisation Knox and Antill Street

The issue of signalization of the Knox Street and Antill Street intersection in Watson was flagged in a Draft Land Use Master Plan North Watson consultants report dated 28 March 2003. The Watson Community Association has produced a comparison of peak-hour morning and afternoon traffic numbers at this intersection on 20 November 2002 and a later survey conducted by Roads ACT in the week from September 22 – September 29 in 2008. Hackett Traffic Issues

What’s the problem? Over the last 3-4 years there has been a growing problem with cars (and even private buses) using Hackett as a shortcut to get priority access to Majura Ave.  The fundamental problem is that east Gungahlin is being developed without sufficient consideration given to transport routes in and out of the suburbs.  This results in significant congestion on existing routes such as Northbourne Ave.  To avoid the congestion there, cars are turning left from the Federal highway and going down Antill Street with the aim of getting onto Majura Ave and then Limestone Ave.  Faced with delays …

Clean up your local bush land on Clean Up Australia Day – (1 March 2009)

The Friends of Mount Majura has registered a Clean up Australia Day site located north of the old Ainslie tip site. On their walks to map rabbit warrens, they have found the area badly littered. They hope to attract the wider public to this first bush clean-up. Knox Street Traffic Issues

The Watson Community Association has a concern about the nature, volume and impact of traffic on Knox street. Do you support a night time aircraft curfew?

Canberra International Airport is planning massive expansion under its latest draft Master Plan. It wants to become Sydney’s second airport, including a 24-hour airfreight hub. Unlike Sydney, we don’t have a night time curfew. There will be bigger planes with much greater frequency – up to 1 plane movement every 2 minutes.
