The Australian Government’s Energy Efficient Homes Package will install ceiling insulation in up to 2.9 million homes across Australia.
The Homeowner Insulation Program offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,600 to owner-occupiers and the Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,000 to renters and landlords.
Given that the North Canberra district has some of the oldest homes and the program specifically targets homes that are currently uninsulated, or have very little ceiling insulation this presents an ideal opportunity take advantage of benefits from this program.
If the total cost of installation is less than $1,600 (for owner-occupiers) or $1,000 (for renters and landlords) there will be no more to pay.
Full details of the program are available from the Department of Environment, Water, Heritate and the Arts Website.
The program has been is in effect since 1 July 2009 and will run until 31 December 2011.
