Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to attempted aggravated robbery in Acton

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery which occurred on Barry Drive, Acton early yesterday (April 23).

Around 12.45am a 22-year-old man was walking along Barry Drive near Sullivan’s Creek towards the Australian National University when he notices two male youths run into bushes near the university soccer fields.

As the victim walked near the bushes one of the youths jumped out holding a baseball bat demanding his property. A brief fight broke out. The victim managed to escape towards Bruce Hall but was first struck on the leg with the baseball bat. During the fight the second offender emerged from the bushes. The victim was not injured during the incident and none of his property was stolen. He later attended City Police Station to report the incident.

The first offender is described as being approximately 165cms (5’5”) tall and wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper, dark-blue jeans and a balaclava.

The second male offender is described as being approximately 160cm (5’3”) tall and was wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper, light jeans and a balaclava.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Barry Drive in Acton overnight or who knows the identity of the offenders to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
