Crimestoppers: Suspicious fire, Dickson (29 November 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating the cause of a fire at Dickson early this morning.

Just after 3.15am police were called to a block of commercial premises in Cape Street where a storeroom and restaurant was alight. Officers from ACT Fire Brigade extinguished the fire however the storeroom and restaurant sustained major damage. Neighbouring businesses also sustained some minor smoke damage.

A cordon has been established around the scene and the fire is being treated as suspicious. Initial investigations indicate the fire started in a garbage skip at the rear of the restaurant.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw any persons acting suspiciously around the commercial premises in Cape Street. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via their website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
