Community Consultation Forum: ACT Disability Policy Framework 2009-2014 (3 June 2009)

The ACT Government is updating its policy framework to improve outcomes and opportunities for Canberrans who have a disability. The policy will guide priority areas for disability policy and service delivery through to 2014. The updated framework will build on the work of the current ACT disability framework, Future Directions: A Framework for the ACT 2004-2009 as well as assist in achieving goals outlined in Challenge 2014 – A ten year vision for disability in the ACT. Invitation for Submissions: Inquiry Into Access To Primary Health Care Services (closing 26 June 2009)

The ACT Legislative Assembly Standing Committee on Health, Community and Social Services is seeking public submissions for their Inquiry Into Access To Primary Health Care Sevices. With the recent closure of the Kippax Family Practice and growing concern over the shortage of practicing general practitioners in the ACT, the Legislative Assembly, on 25 March 2009, referred the matter to the Standing Committee on Health, Community and Social Services for inquiry.

Government Measure Up Campaign

You may have already seen the TV, print, and radio or online advertisements for the Measure Up campaign. Measure Up is a joint Australian, state and territory government initiative that aims to encourage Australians to make and sustain healthy changes to their lifestyle, such as increasing physical activity and adopting healthy eating habits, to reduce their risk of some lifestyle related chronic disease. The Federal and ACT Governmenta are encouraging participation in the Measure Up campaign to help raise awareness and important health issues in the North Canberra area.
