ACT Policing: 24/7 patrols planned as police gear up for Summernats

ACT Policing is scheduling around-the-clock traffic enforcement patrols of the areas surrounding Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) and additional patrols of the city’s entertainment precincts over the Summernats car festival period beginning today (Thursday, January 7). Police intend to clamp down rigorously on any irresponsible and/or dangerous driving behaviour and have issued a reminder to all motorists that under ACT legislation, police have the power to seize vehicles for burnouts, menacing driving or street racing on public roadways.

ABC News: Hackett traffic 'likely to increase'

On 18 September 2009 the ABC News, following up on a story from the previous day where Hackett residents have expressed concern with regard to traffic safety issues,. Roads ACT has now admitted that the traffic in Hackett is only likely to increase with new roadworks and development in Gungahlin and traffic control and management measures are currently not budgeted for. New traffic pressures in North Canberra expected

Residents of inner north Canberra suburbs can expect a major increase in traffic in their suburbs unless new local traffic arrangements are developed. That was a key message delivered by Mr Tony Gill in his presentation to the North Canberra Community Council on 19 August.
