The Chief Minister’s Department has commissioned an independent mid-term review of the business advisory service known as Canberra BusinessPoint. Following a tender process, G J Wall and Associates has been selected to conduct this mid-term review. Invitation to comment: Review into ACT’s cycling and pedestrian network (Closing 4 December 2009)

The Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) is inviting public input into a review currently being undertaken into the ACT’s cycling and pedestrian network as part of the Sustainable Transport Action Plan 2010-2016. The review is aimed at determining future priorities for improving the network, particularly near the City, Belconnen, Woden, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin town centres, as well as major employment centres such as Fyshwick, Hume, Mitchell, Barton/Parkes and the Canberra Airport. The draft plans will be on display from Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November 2009 at the following locations:

Report from NCCC October 2009 meeting: ACT Cycling and Pedestrian Networks

On 21 October Russell Yell of Cardno, Eppell, Olsen gave a presentation to the North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) on a review being undertaken on ACT cycling and pedestrian networks. The review of Canberra’s commuter bicycle network is part of the Sustainable Transport Action Plan. One of the main priorities of this review is to ensure there is an equal emphasis on the needs of commuter cyclists, recreational cyclists and pedestrians, including visually and mobility impaired people.

Invitation to Comment and Public Forums: Review of the Arts in Canberra

The ACT Government, along with consultants Peter Loxton and Associates Pty Ltd,  would like to invite the community to share their thoughts and views on the arts in the ACT through a survey and public forums. Your comments will contribute to the development of the new arts policy  for the ACT, due to be released in June 2010. An online survey is available at www.arts.act.gov.au. Consultation: Review of the Arts in Canberra (until March 2010)

Funding was provided in the 2008-09 Budget for a review of the arts in Canberra as Arts Canberra, the ACT Government’s current action statement for the arts, expired at the end of 2008. The review will be conducted by independent consultants Peter Loxton and Associates Pty Ltd and will include research into best-practice arts policy from around Australia and overseas, as well as working with the local ACT arts community to look at the success of the current policy and its implementation to date.

Upcoming review of Pedestrian and Cycling infrastructure for Civic/City

The Department of  Territory and Municipal Services have appointed external consultants Cardno to conduct a review of the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure within the ACT and in particular in the Civic centre, as shown in the diagram attached. TAMS will be discussing  with the North Canberra Community council what is  seen as positives and negatives with pedestrian and  cycle facilities within the Civic centre and as such TAMS will be organising a workshop in the coming weeks.
