Canberra Times: Wine group plans $15m hotel complex

The National Capital Authority has recently issued Draft Development Control Plan (DCP) No:171/10/0002 in response to proposals for a renewed service station/restaurant on the Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) site; and a $15million hotel complex on the Kamberra winery site on Northbourne Avenue in north Canberra. The Canberra Times covered both of these stories on March 2. This article contains a transcription of the newspaper articles and Figure 3 extracted from the DCP showing the land subject to the plan. Canberra Times: Secret Manoeuvres (The destruction of the Griffin Legacy)

On 15 August 2009, the Saturday Canberra Times ran a very interesting article written by John Thiselton which discussed how the new ASIO building is contrary to and will destroy the concept of the NCA’s Griffin Legacy. On 26 November 2009 the NCA will hold a public forum to provide opportunity to begin a continuing dialogue about planning in Canberra, and ensuring Canberra’s ‘place’ as the national capital.
