Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade

The following is an ACT Government Media Release: Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade Released 18/03/2010 Two of Canberra’s busiest roads, Northbourne Avenue and London Circuit, will undergo significant safety improvements and maintenance over the next three months, Chief Minister and Minister for Transport, Jon Stanhope, said today. Roadworks on London Circuit start this week while the first stage of the Northbourne Avenue works commence next week. The entire works will be completed by mid-June 2010.

ACT Government aware of negative impacts from Airport freight hub development

The ABC News is reporting that ACT Government expressed strong concerns in its submission to the Canberra Airport Draft Masterplan about the impact that a 24/7 freight hub would have in terms of impact on the community. Submission outlines ACT Govt’s airport fears The ACT Government says it is unclear how Canberra Airport’s role as a 24-hour freight hub will affect the quality of life in nearby suburbs.
