The 
Emergency Services Agency (ESA) released the first ACT Strategic Bushfire Management Plan (SBMP) in January 2005 to provide a clear guide on the management of bushfire risk in the Territory. The ESA, in close liaison with the Department of Territory and Municipal Services and other key government and community stakeholders, has now reviewed the SBMP.
The formal draft of the SBMP version two is now available for final public comment prior to finalisation of the Plan.
The Plan is available for inspection from 14 August 2009 through to 4 September 2009. Written comments on the draft Plan will be received until 25 September 2009. The purpose of this formal consultation is to provide the community the draft Plan and an opportunity for groups or individuals to provide feedback and raise issues on the draft Plan to the ESA. Comments received will be considered by the ESA in finalising the Plan.

Copies of the SBMP version two are also available for viewing at ACT libraries and ACT Canberra Connect Shopfronts. Viewing of the Plan and large format maps can also be undertaken at the ACT ESA Headquarters- 123 Carruthers Street, Curtin.
