ACT Policing is seeking any witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in Goodchild St, Lyneham after a resident disturbed a burglar in her home last night (Wednesday, December 3).
The 40-year-old woman had returned home to her Lyneham unit about 11.35pm last night when she was surprised and confronted by a male who had already gained entry to the premises. The intruder asked for cash, but no items appear to have been stolen from the residence.
The victim was shaken but unharmed during the incident.
The offender is described as around 183cm tall (6’), wearing black clothing, a black balaclava and gloves. He spoke with an eastern European accent. Police believe he may also have left the area on a bicycle.
Police believe the man of this general description may have been seen by residents or passers-by loitering around Goodchild St and the unit complex last night or perhaps at other times during the week.
