NCCC Submission: Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines for the ACT

Reproduced below is the North Canberra Community Council response to the Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines which Aurecon has prepared a summary report for stakeholder consultation. At time of publication of this item the North Canberra Community Council was still seeking clarification from Aurecon on whether this opportunity to provide submissions and comment represented the the end of consultation prior to issuing a recommendation to government, or whether a further public consultation on the guidelines would be offered.

Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade

The following is an ACT Government Media Release: Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade Released 18/03/2010 Two of Canberra’s busiest roads, Northbourne Avenue and London Circuit, will undergo significant safety improvements and maintenance over the next three months, Chief Minister and Minister for Transport, Jon Stanhope, said today. Roadworks on London Circuit start this week while the first stage of the Northbourne Avenue works commence next week. The entire works will be completed by mid-June 2010.

Free travel on ACTION buses for seniors (22-26 March 2010)

ACTION is providing free Off-Peak travel for holders of an ACT Seniors Card during Senior’s Week from Monday 22 March to Friday 26 March 2010. Off-Peak is any time (weekday) between 9.00am and 4.30pm and again after 6.00pm. Canberrans 75 years or older are also entitled to free travel on ACTION buses at any time using an ACTION Gold Card. To receive your free Gold Card visit a Canberra Connect Shopfront or the Drivers Licence Service in the Civic Library. Application forms are also available online at www.action.act.gov.au

Changes to Parking Rules – effective 15 March 2010

Following updates to the Australian Road Rules, some changes have been made to parking rules in the ACT, effective 15 March 2010. Traffic rule changes have also been implemented. The parking changes relate to: stopping a vehicle on a painted island; parking in time limited areas; parking in a Road Related Area; and parking in marked bays. Invitation to Comment: Greater Canberra City Area Coordinated Action Plan 2010 – 2016 (closing 30 March 2010)

A discussion paper dealing with priorities for public investment in Canberra City, and its interface with adjoining suburbs, has been released for public comment. The Greater Canberra City Area Coordinated Action Plan 2010 – 2016 Report, which will help the ACT Government develop priorities for investing in improvements to public transport, roads, footpaths, parks and cycleways is open for comment until COB Tuesday 30 March 2010.
