The Elephants in Majura Valley

The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) has questioned the proposed route of the planned Realignment of Majura Road. The Chair of NCCC, Jochen Zeil, has said that while the NCCC agrees that an Upgrade to the road is needed, the proposed Realignment is more expensive and more damaging to both heritage values and to endangered ecological communities, compared with upgrading the existing road. Transitway will retain feel of Northbourne

ABOUT $2.5 million has been allocated in the ACT Budget 2011-12 to design a transitway corridor along Northbourne Avenue. The transitway will be constructed in both directions along Northbourne Avenue between Flemington Road and London Circuit. It will connect with the previously constructed transitway along Flemington Road, providing a continuous link between Gungahlin and the city as well as servicing inner-north commuters.

ACT Government Infrastructure Plan 2010

The ACT Infrastructure Plan outlines short and medium-term infrastructure priorities over the next 10 years in a range of categories, including health, education, transport, housing and community services, justice and community safety, land development, and culture and the arts. The Plan also looks at long-term projects such as the Very Fast Train, and discusses the potential for new funding models for major infrastructure. The Plan has been informed by the views of the community and industry, through the Government’s budget consultation strategy, and also through a series of high-level roundtables. Public forum – ACT Greens 'active transport' discussion paper

The ACT Greens will be holding a public forum on  their ‘active transport’ policy discussion paper. The ACT Greens define ‘Active transport’ as physically active travelling. In particular, it refers to walking and cycling. When more people travel by active transport, a city becomes healthier, more vibrant, as well as more economically and environmentally sustainable. Invitation to Comment: Community Aviation Consultation Groups – Draft guildelines (closing 28 May 2010)

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government is seeking community input from the North Canberra Community Council (and others) on draft guidelines for Community Aviation Consultation Groups for the leased federal airports. The establishment of Community Aviation Consultation Groups was an initiative of the National Aviation Policy White Paper. Comments on the draft guidelines are sought by close of business 28 May 2010.
