The ACT Government Asbestos Response Task Force has agreed to present to the North Canberra Community Council meeting on 21 April 2015. The Task Force expects to address topics including: an update on the buyback scheme what support is being provided to homeowners support specific to elderly homeowners information about the pilot demolitions how the program will affect the wider community, and the proposed territory plan variation The meeting will be at 7.30 pm at the Function Room in the Majura Community Centre, 2 Rosevear Place Dickson – click for map

The Master plan has been developed using urban design and planning principles to provide a vision for Grevillea Park as a recreational hub for community use. The National Capital Authority, which is responsible for the management of Lake Burley Griffin, supports the development of water-based recreational facilities at Grevillea Park.
At our October meeting we passed a motion that called on the ACT Government, if it does build the light rail, to commit to: * building all of the fifteen light rail stops shown in the September Industry Briefing presentation unless there is a business case that clearly demonstrates the advantages of having fewer stops; * publishing the criteria that it intends to use to determine which stops to retain; and * conducting public consultation on which stops should be retained. On 4 November the Chief Minister provided the following response:

The Guide provides information about all the transport options available to older people who don’t drive or who are getting towards the close of their driving career. The booklet has phone numbers, web sites and tips on a range of things from accessible travel to social and recreational opportunities, to getting good taxi service. Ben Smith of Capital Metro left a phone message on 7 October, saying that the light rail stop at the intersection of Swinden Street and Northbourne Avenue will be retained, and that some unspecified stops in other areas will not be built.
