The ACT Government is developing the Sustainable Transport Action Plan 2010-2016 to help meet the sustainable transport targets set out in the Sustainable Transport Plan (2004). Invitation to comment: Working with Vulnerable People Checks (closing 12 October 2009)

The ACT Government is developing a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Checks system as part of its commitment to the support and protection of vulnerable people in the ACT.  The checking system will assist in reducing the incidence of abuse of vulnerable persons.    Abuse can include sexual, physical, emotional or financial harm or neglect.

September is Business in Focus Month

Business in Focus Month is a new month-long program that will feature almost 70 events and highlights include the opportunity to speed date with master entrepreneurs and a weekend camp which will allow companies to brainstorm and develop new business strategies. During the month, Canberra businesses will be able to access information and service providers as well as attending networking opportunities that will assist them in building better businesses.

Small and Micro Business Forum (16 September 2009)

An opportunity for small or micro business owners to give their views to Government. The ACT Government is hosting an open business forum for small and micro businesses. Expert facilitator Jenny Brockie will guide business owners through an open conversation about the challenges of being in business in the ACT. This is an opportunity for you to put your ideas on the Government’s forward agenda. 

Install home insulation for FREE: The Energy Efficient Homes Package

The Australian Government’s Energy Efficient Homes Package will install ceiling insulation in up to 2.9 million homes across Australia. The Homeowner Insulation Program offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,600 to owner-occupiers and the Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,000 to renters and landlords.

ABC News: Bushfire Plan

On the 14 August 2009 ABC News reported that the ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) in close liaison with the Department of Territory and Municipal Services and other key government and community stake-holders has reviewed the original ACT Strategic Bushfire Management Plan (SBMP) from January 2005 and is seeking community input on the next iteration of the plan – Version Two. The revised plan will provide an updated and clear guide on the management of bushfire risk in the Territory.
