Invitation to Comment: Supermarket Competition (Closing 20 November 2009)

The Chief Minister launched the Martin Review on supermarket competition policy in the ACT on 7 October 2009. At this launch the Chief Minister instructed his Department to provide an implementation plan within three months. The implementation plan will put the 15 recommendations of the supermarket competition policy review into action and will guide future supermarket development in the ACT. Submissions from the ACT community are currently being sought by the Supermarket Competition Coordination Committee. 'Raw' Landscape Architecture Exhibition at University of Canberra (13, 14 & 16 November 2009)

The exhibition ‘Raw’ will display the final projects of graduating University of Canberra landscape architecture students. There will be twenty three projects in the exhibition which examine the Eastern Broadacre of Canberra and the possibilities that exist there for the future. The Eastern Broadacre is part of the valley which exists between the Federal Highway through to Hume. This exhibition provides Canberrans with an opportunity to view diverse ideas and applications which have been created by the students. Invitation to comment: Review into ACT’s cycling and pedestrian network (Closing 4 December 2009)

The Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) is inviting public input into a review currently being undertaken into the ACT’s cycling and pedestrian network as part of the Sustainable Transport Action Plan 2010-2016. The review is aimed at determining future priorities for improving the network, particularly near the City, Belconnen, Woden, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin town centres, as well as major employment centres such as Fyshwick, Hume, Mitchell, Barton/Parkes and the Canberra Airport. The draft plans will be on display from Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November 2009 at the following locations:

TAMS Aerosol Can Recycling Competition (Entries open 10 November 2009 to 04 December 2009)

To celebrate National Recycling Week from 9 – 15 November 2009, the Department of Territory and Municipal Services is launching a recycling competition. The competition aims to raise awareness about recycling and bust some common myths. For instance, many people do not realise that in the ACT, empty aerosol cans should go into the yellow-topped recycling bins. The prizes are worth over $1600 and include Westfield shopping centre vouchers, Hoyts family movie passes and specially manufactured USB drives.
