Reminder: Assembly Inquiry in to RZ3 and RZ4 Residential Development Policies (closing 30 January 2010)

In September 2009 the Standing Committee on Planning, Public Works and Territory and Municipal Services extended the closing date for submissions to the Inquiry into Inner North Residential Redevelopment Policies. The closing date for submissions is  30 January 2010.

North Canberra Community Service – KickStart Family Program

More than 80 members of Canberra’s Indigenous community are enjoying a busy schedule of recreational activities during January as they take part in the KickStart Family Program. Northside Community Service (NCS) and ACT Policing have formed a partnership to develop and deliver the program which is aimed at strengthening families and communities, in addition to building rapport between local indigenous communities and police.

Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to suspicious fire, Lyneham (Friday 08 January 2010)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a house fire in De Burgh St, Lyneham, which is suspected to have started around 9.30pm last night (Friday, January 8). The house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze but suffered extensive damage. At this time, police are treating the fire as suspicious. AFP Forensic Services attended and conducted investigations. It is suspected that the source of the fire was around the front verandah of the house. In the 8 January 2010 edition of the Canberra Times, journalist Susannah Metherell has written a somewhat humourous article about a noisy koel that is keeping residents of Dooring Street awake at night. Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to theft of motor vehicle parts, Watson (8 January 2010)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the theft of approximately $50,000 worth of motor vehicle parts stolen from a hire truck at the Formule 1 Hotel car park overnight in Watson. The property stolen includes Billet brand shifters manufactured in Melbourne by Billet Products Australia which were due to be sold at this years Summernats car festival.
