World Environment Day in Garema Place, Civic (04 June 2010)

Visit Garema Place from 11.00am to 2.00pm this Friday to celebrate World Environment Day with the Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water (DECCEW). The interactive event will include displays from local organisations and government agencies to celebrate our environment as well as showcase environmental initiatives and programs that can help our community.

ACT Policing is working co-operatively with other police and government agencies to actively raise awareness of and educate the community about fraud that targets individuals and businesses. Mass Marketed Advance Fee Fraud is most commonly referred to as a “scam”. It targets individuals regardless of age, gender, education or income level. Businesses are also targeted. Outdoor Cafe Policy goes out to public consultation (closing 25 June 2010)

The Office of Regulatory Services (ORS) exercises certain responsibilities under the Roads and Public Places Act 1937. Among these responsibilities is the issuing of outdoor cafe permits. The Outdoor Cafe Policy (the Policy) sets out guidelines on the permit application process, appropriate clearance zones for footpaths and furniture, and other information on the conditions of use for an outdoor cafe permit. The Policy’s main objective is to maximise the benefits between outdoor cafe areas and other public uses of unleased territory land in the ACT. Information Session: An easier path to home ownership for public housing tenants (17/18 May 2010)

Public housing tenants can now apply to purchase their existing home under the ACT Government’s new‘ Shared Equity Scheme’. One of Australia’s largest building societies IMB Limited will provide first mortgage finance to tenants purchasing their properties under the scheme. Tenants who are unable to afford to buy the full value of their home can buy a percentage of it. Housing ACT will retain the remaining percentage until it is also purchased by the tenant.
