ACT Policing: Image released after Turner robbery

ACT Policing has released a face-fit image of a female offender responsible for an aggravated robbery in Turner on Monday morning (23 November) which left an 87-year-old woman with moderate injuries. The female offender is described as being aged in her 30s, of Caucasian appearance, about 157cm tall (5’2”), of solid build, with a fair complexion and light coloured hair that was either tied up or short in length. She was wearing a fawn coloured jacket and dark coloured full length trousers.

Crimestoppers: Police release footage of service station robbery – Braddon (17 November 2009)

ACT Policing has released CCTV footage of an aggravated robbery which occurred in Braddon last Tuesday (November 17). Around 3.55am (November 17) a man armed with a knife entered the Caltex service station on Lonsdale Street demanding money from a staff member. During the incident the offender jumped the service counter and left the location with a sum of cash and cigarettes. The man was last seen heading towards Haig Park, Braddon.

Crimestoppers: Elderly woman assaulted during robbery, Turner (23 November 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating an aggravated robbery at Turner this morning where an elderly woman was assaulted in her own home. About 11.15am, the 87-year-old woman was hanging washing in her backyard when she disturbed a female intruder. The offender assaulted the victim before forcing her inside and restraining her. The offender then stole a number of items including the contents of the victim’s handbag and her vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Magna with ACT registration plates YVX 826.

Invitation to comment: Codification of Change of Use Charge (closing 16 December 2009)

In the 2009-10 Budget, the ACT Government agreed to the codification of the Change of Use Charge system in the Territory. The local consultant Macroeconomics has been engaged to undertake this project.  The consultant team will be led by Professor Des Nicholls of the Australian National University. Public consultation has commenced on the proposed codification process.  A discussion paper outlining the proposed framework, approach and methodology for codification has been prepared by the consultants. ACT Policing’s Community and Business Liaison Team will today (Thursday 19 November 2009) conclude its series of forums to promote the responsible service of alcohol in Canberra’s entertainment districts, predominately in the Civic area. Today’s workshop is the final in a series of three attended by liquor licensees, members of ACT Policing’s Crime Prevention team, members of the Office of Regulatory Services, and Directions ACT. Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to Dickson robbery (17 November 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating and seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred last night (November 17) in Badham Street, Dickson. About 7.51pm yesterday (Tuesday, November 17) a man has entered the Swan Asian Grocery store demanding staff hand over money from the cash register. During the incident the male offender has threatened staff by producing a syringe.

ACT Policing: Assistance sought – unlawful removal of children (16 November 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking public assistance in the search for a 36-year-old woman who has unlawful custody of her two children. Joanne McNoe, 36, unlawfully removed her two children, eight-year-old Liam Shahriar and six-year-old Liana Shahriar, from their school in Ainslie about 2.15pm yesterday (November 16). The woman was last seen walking away from the school with the two children. Police do have concerns for the welfare of the children and conducted extensive enquiries late yesterday, overnight and today. The trio have not yet been located and police are seeking the assistance of the public to help find them.
