COTA: Invitation to organise events for Seniors Week (21-28 March 2010)

Have you organised an activity for Seniors Week 2010: March 21 – March 28? Seniors Week will offer literally hundreds of events for the participation of older Canberrans. Many centre on health and wellbeing, others on services to assist people with real-life issues, such as exploring accommodation options in retirement or understanding ones pension. Invitation to comment: Working with Vulnerable People Checks (closing 12 October 2009)

The ACT Government is developing a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Checks system as part of its commitment to the support and protection of vulnerable people in the ACT.  The checking system will assist in reducing the incidence of abuse of vulnerable persons.    Abuse can include sexual, physical, emotional or financial harm or neglect.

Public Information Session: Strategic Plan for Positive Ageing – second stage of community consultations (19 August September 2009)

The ACT Government is seeking your feedback on the draft Strategic Plan for Positive Ageing, a whole-of-government initiative being developed in partnership with the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing and the community and will be holding a public information session on Wednesday 19th August 2009.

Public Information Session: 2009-10 ACT Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program (30 July 2009)

The ACT Office for Ageing will be holding a public information session for the 2009-10 ACT Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program in the North Canberra area on Thursday 30th July 2009. In 2009-2010 the Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program will provide a total of $100,000 to the community with a maximum of $15,000 available for each approved project.

The ACT Office for Ageing is inviting applications for projects and events for a period of twelve (12) months, two (2) year sponsorships for recurrent events are being offered for the first time. In 2009-2010 the Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program will provide a total of $100,000 to the community with a maximum of $15,000 available for each approved project.

Turner Seniors Club takes up the green challenge

ACT Minister for Ageing and Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Water on Thursday 14 May 2009 publicly acknowledged the efforts of the Canberra Seniors Centre in Turner for taking up the green challenge. The Ministers joined senior Canberrans at an event to celebrate the installation of 24 photovoltaic panels at the Centre.
