We have asked the Planning Minister and to the Minister for Urban Renewal to keep Dickson Section 72 for community and cultural purposes. Section 72 is the area between the Dickson Swimming Pool and the Dickson playing fields
That the meeting (21 Nov 18) requests the NCCC to advocate to retain Section 72 for community and cultural purposes, including, but not limited to, action on the six recommendations in the Working Group’s position paper and in light of the issues and opportunities outlined in the paper.
In a decision handed down late on Thursday, the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal overturned ACTPLA’s decision to approve a controversial redevelopment of the Woolworths’ car park in Dickson. The Tribunal determined the proposed development broke too many planning rules to be mitigated by conditions placed on its approval.

Over 40 people turned out to celebrate the Winter Solstice at NCCC’s new venue, Downer Community Hall in Frencham Place. The evening started off festively with lanterns and candles to lead the way, big vats of spiced mulled wine (the Jamie Oliver recipe) and warm cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven.
On 6 and 7 May, over 90 heritage walks participants toured Dickson Library and the 1960s shopping centre with expert heritage architects and urban planners, exploring the significance of the architecture and layout
