Task Force aims to attact international flights to Canberra

The Chief Minister has chaired the inaugural meeting of the ACT Government’s Aviation Task Force, which aims to attract international flights to and from Canberra. The North Canberra Community Council believes that resident input is important, because of the possible noise impacts of international flights. In order to clarify the level of resident input, we have asked for a list of the tourism, business, education and community sector organisations that are represented on the Task Force. Constitution Avenue upgrade consultation sessions

Community feedback is invited on the preliminary design plans for the upgrade of Constitution Avenue. In celebration of the Centenary of Canberra in 2013, the Australian Government has gifted $42 million to the ACT Government for the upgrade of Constitution Avenue. This project will deliver major transport infrastructure improvements including a dedicated bus lane in each direction, a separated cycle path, improved pedestrian facilities and a new central median planted with trees.

Proposed Letter to Federal Minister for Health and Aging

The Hackett Community Association (HCA) has been encouraging the establishment of a pharmacy at the local shops because there are many older residents of Hackett who find it difficult to get to nearby pharmacies due to lack of personal transport, poor interconnecting bus services or lack of mobility.  This had led to a pharmacist leasing one of the shops at the Hackett Shops and commencing to fit it out in anticipation of obtaining approval to operate the pharmacy. An information session has been organised by Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate (ESDD) for interested parties on the Cooyong Street Urban Renewal Proposal.
