The Department of Territory and Municipal Services would like to remind all residents that certain items should not be disposed of using your household rubbish bin or hopper:
These include:
- household recyclables belong in your household recycling bin, hopp
Bin Lid Sticker er or your local recycling drop off centre;
- garden waste can be composted or taken to a green waste facility;
- rocks and soil;
- hot ashes may melt the bin or start a fire in your bin;
- syringes;
- concrete and bricks; and
- liquids – including paint.
Some of these things can be reused or recycled, and some have special requirements for disposal.
