The next meeting of the North Canberra Communuity Council will be held at 7:30pm Wednesday 21 August 2013 at ACT Sport House 100 Maitland Street Hackett. The meeting includes presentations by the ACT Economic Development Directorate on the Downer local centre re-development proposal, and the federal environment assessment for Block 9 Section 64 Watson; discussion on the ACT Nature Conservation Strategy and also the review of the ACT Water for the Future strategy; and the Council’s constitution.

- Presentation from officers of the ACT Economic Development Directorate on the Downer local centre re-development proposal, and the federal environment assessment for Block 9 Section 64 Watson.
- Discuss draft minutes from July 17 forum.
- Discussion on the ACT Nature Conservation Strategy. The final study for 2013-2023 was tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly on 8 August 2013 for its consideration. Reports are available on the www.environment.act.gov.au website.
- Discussion on the review of the ACT Water for the Future strategy. The final report dated July 2013 is available on the www.environment.act.gov.au website. The deadline for comments is due on Friday August 30.
- Discussion on whether the NCCC Constitution requires changing to avoid the instability and uncertainty that recently occurred in the Belconnen Community Council. NCCC has obtained a copy of the draft constitution prepared by the Belconnen Community Council on 14 July 2013 which could be a starting point for consideration.
- Discuss any other business, including issues for the forum on September 18. The AGM should be held within the next two months.
