Hazard reduction activities (Watson)

The ACT Government is currently undertaking bushfire hazard reduction work at sites throughout urban Canberra.

These include Kaleen (along the corridor running through the suburb); MacArthur Hill in Fadden; along Belconnen Way between Benjamin Way and Eastern Valley Way; and in Watson near Aspinall Street.

The work involves the removal of bushfire fuels, the removal of some dead trees and shrubs, as well as grass slashing and mowing.

Similar work is also planned for Hume and the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve before the end of the year. A further program of work is scheduled for the New Year.

All work forms part of the 2009/10 Bushfire Operations Plan.
