The ACT Government has engaged Peter Loxton and Associates Pty Ltd to review the ACT Government’s events and festivals. This review will provide the opportunity to explore the economic and social potential of events to the ACT and identify a unified vision for events and festivals in Canberra that reflects the essence of Canberra’s values, attributes, and experiences. It will also consider Government and business partnerships, as well as the most effective organisational arrangements for delivering the ACT Government’s events and festivals strategies.

ACT Health invites you to a series of free seminars on issues affecting older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Seminars on different topics are held regularly and are in English.

All interested members of the community are welcome to attend. The Community Partners Programs Officer can arrange for many topics to be presented to any CALD group with an appropriate interpreter if desired.

The National Multicultural Festival 2010 opens on Friday, 5 February 2010 in Garema Place with a spectacular Global Concert staring Deni Hines, Melinda Schneider, Paulini and Emma Donovan. In an Australian debut they will present Mura Wakay — a celebration of Australia’s rich culture and song.

All the festival favourites will be presented free in Civic — the Global Concert and Night Markets; the Fyshwick Freshfood Markets Food and Dance Spectacular; the Pacific Island Showcase; Carnival in the City; ActewAGL’s Contact Canberra; the Greek Glendi; ACTTAB Chinese New Year in the City; and India in the City.

More than 80 members of Canberra’s Indigenous community are enjoying a busy schedule of recreational activities during January as they take part in the KickStart Family Program.

Northside Community Service (NCS) and ACT Policing have formed a partnership to develop and deliver the program which is aimed at strengthening families and communities, in addition to building rapport between local indigenous communities and police.
