The ACT Revenue Office invites clients to participate in a customer service and website survey at: http://www.revenue.act.gov.au/client_survey. The survey should take about 5 to 10 minutes to complete and will be available for input from 4 November 2009 to 5 January 2010.
Megan Doherty, city reporter from the Canberra Times wrote an article in the 5 November 2009 edition of the newspaper about problems being experienced at the Canberra Olympic Pool in Civic. The article hints at economic shortcuts being taken by Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) as well as indicating that this may be part of a larger plan to “run down” the pool so that the land may be sold off and reclaimed for other development. Volunteers are invited to participate in a second round of mapping rabbit warrens at Mount Majura, Mount Ainslie and the Watson Woodlands. Come to the information session on 12th of November 2009 to learn about the the mapping project with sessions led by rangers from ACT Parks, Conservation and Lands. What to expect: Volunteers will learn about the project Learn how to identify active warrens Be able to register for a free GPS training session Be able to “adopt” your own mapping site.
ACT Policing has praised the behaviour of Melbourne Cup revellers at Thoroughbred Park with the majority of patrons acting responsibly over the course of the day.
On 30 October 2009, Canberra Times education reporter Emma MacDonald wrote an article covering the fact that two teachers both working in the North Canberra District have been singled out for their dedication to education. Majura Primary School principal Coralie McAlister was highly commended in the excellent principal category and Black Mountain School teacher Phillip Brown was highly commended in the excellent teacher category. ACTPLA will be holding public information sessions regarding the changes proposed under the Planning and Development Amendment Bill No. 2. The Planning and Development Amendment Bill No. 2 will make a number of amendments to the Planning and Development Act 2007.
