Combined Community Council Motion (for ratification at April 2010 NCCC public meeting)

On Thursday, 18 March 2010, the acting chair of the North Canberra Community Council, Richard Larson attended a combined community councils meeting. This meeting had been called by the Woden Valley Community Council to discuss a draft amendment bill which Caroline Le Couteur MLA intended to table in the Legislative Assembly. The representatives at the meeting agreed to a statement endorsing the intent of the bill. NCCC Submission: Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines for the ACT

Reproduced below is the North Canberra Community Council response to the Transport Impact Assessment Guidelines which Aurecon has prepared a summary report for stakeholder consultation. At time of publication of this item the North Canberra Community Council was still seeking clarification from Aurecon on whether this opportunity to provide submissions and comment represented the the end of consultation prior to issuing a recommendation to government, or whether a further public consultation on the guidelines would be offered.

Crimestoppers: Three youths arrested after residential burglaries (1 April 2010)

ACT Policing arrested three male youths in O’Connor yesterday afternoon (April 1) after a series of aggravated burglaries in that suburb. Police had obtained descriptions of three teenage males suspected to be responsible for three residential burglaries in O’Connor yesterday. Late yesterday afternoon, a police patrol in Yapunyah Street sighted three males matching those descriptions and carrying backpacks.

Crimestoppers: Images released of assault suspects, Dickson (30 March 2010)

ACT Policing has released several images of suspected offenders sought over the assault of a taxi driver on Cape Street, Dickson on Saturday, February 27. The suspects shown in the images were in a group of three who were refused travel by a 56-year-old male taxi driver due to their level of intoxication and aggression.

ACT Government IrrigationSmart trial

The ACT Government is trialling a new program called IrrigationSmart. The trial will assist 200 ACT residents who have automated (programmable) drip irrigation systems to use their system in the most water-efficient way to maintain a healthy garden. Participants in the trial receive: a visit from an irrigation specialist to assess the condition and effectiveness of their automated drip irrigation system; a written report containing the advice and recommendations made by the irrigation specialist; a FREE rain gauge; and are eligible to apply for a rebate of up to $100 for improvements to their irrigation system or garden’s water efficiency. …

ACT Policing: Woman arrested for aggravated burglary in Turner (26 March 2010)

ACT Policing has arrested a 59-year-old Lyneham woman for an aggravated burglary in Turner last year. Police will allege that the woman assaulted, bound and gagged an 87-year-old female victim in her own home on the 23 November 2009. The woman then allegedly stole a number of items including the contents of the victim’s handbag and her vehicle. The alleged offender will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday 26 March) charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, forcible confinement, aggravated burglary, take motor vehicle without authority and theft.
