City to the Lake – Seminars

The ACT Government has announced  the City to the Lake which is a transformational project being developed within The City Plan, and is integral to realising the City’s potential as the ACT embark on its second century. It is about creating a new public waterfront address and identity for the City.  It is about realising Commonwealth Park and City Hill as celebrated urban parks unified with the centre of the City.  The project connects the City across Parkes Way and includes several important civic projects. The ACT Government is holding  four City to the Lake seminars at the CMAG Theatrette:

Carbon Advantage Landscapes in urban and residential gardens

The ACT chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, with support from the ACT Department of Environment and Sustainable Development, is holding a series of free seminars next month about how we can design our home gardens and public spaces to help reduce our carbon footprint. Bid to store fuel at ASIO site

ASIO is seeking approval to store more than half a million litres of fuel at its new $589 million headquarters in Canberra a street away from family homes. In an application to the ACT Environmental Protection Authority, the spy agency says it wants 660,000 litres of diesel stored on the Constitution Avenue site to run back-up generators. Weathering the Change – Draft Action Plan No 2 – Submission

In this submission, NCCC comments on sustainable transport, sustainable waste, renewable energy, gas-fired electricity generation, carbon offsets, and proposed pathways to emission reduction strategies. It grades the five pathways presented in Draft Action Plan No 2 to reach the goal of a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions which the ACT Government has committed to. Read submission »…
