Downer Community Meeting – Redevelopment of the Downer Local Centre

A meeting will be held for all Downer residents, at 7pm on Wednesday 14 December at the Downer Community Centre, to discuss the redevelopment of the Downer local centre precinct. Letters of invitation were delivered to all Downer residents on 8 December 2011. Review of Canberra Airport Noise Abatement Procedures

Canberra Airport has Noise Abatement Procedures (NAPs) made up of Preferred Runways, Preferred Flight Paths and Noise Abatement Areas (NAAs). As directed by the Minister for Transport, Airservices Australia has undertaken a review of the NAPs. This has been based on 2009 operations. The review includes determining compliance levels of operations with the NAPs, as well as considering the effectiveness of the NAPs and options for making them more effective. Cooyong Street Urban Renewal Precinct: proposed planning changes to land fronting Cooyong Street between Donaldson Street and Boolee Street in Braddon and Reid

The community is invited to comment on a proposal to vary the Territory Plan for the Cooyong Street Urban Renewal Precinct (draft variation 308). The area is currently occupied by the Allawah, Bega and Currong Flats and various church uses. The draft variation proposes to change the zoning and introduce a precinct code which would allow high density residential and mixed-use redevelopment of the site with some retail, community and office space.

ACTION buses re-routed due to Russell Drive closure

Commencing on Monday 5 December 2011, ACTION buses will be re-routed onto Constitution Avenue and down Reg Saunders Way due to the closure of the western end of Russell Drive by the National Capital Authority. All bus stops on Russell Drive, west of Reg Saunders Drive, will be decommissioned. Bus stops along Constitution Avenue and on Russell Drive adjacent to Defence’s R4 building will be maintained. Drop in information session – Proposed release of land for tourist accommodation – Lyneham – Block 7 Section 64

You are invited to attend a drop-in information session on Tuesday 29 November 2011 at the ACT Hockey Centre, Mouat Street, Lyneham between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. As part of this process, the block, part Section 64 Lyneham, which is bordered by the Lyneham Tennis Courts, Yowani Country Club and part of the residential development known as “The Sanctuary” has been identified for sale. Date: Wednesday, 16 November 2011 Time: 7:30 Venue: ACT Sport House, 100 Maitland, Street Hackett Our guest speakers for the 2011 NCCC AGM will be Sherry McArdle-English and Frank van de Loo, who are primary producers (truffle farming and vineyard) at the northern end of Majura Valley. They will be talking about their experiences on the land and opportunities to expand primary production in Majura Valley. This is a topic dear to the heart of NCCC as it feeds into local healthy food production, and has the potential to make the ACT less reliant on food imports.
