NORTH CANBERRA COMMUNITY COUNCIL ELECTION FORUM – Wednesday17 Oct 12

North Canberra residents are invited to our final Election Forum at 7.30pm on Wednesday 17 October, at Pilgrim House, corner of Northbourne Ave. and Rudd St., Civic. All parties have been invited. Labor’s Simon Corbell, Greens’ Shane Rattenbury and Caroline Lecouteur and the Motorists Party’s David Cumbers have confirmed that they will attend. The Forum will be chaired by ABC radio presenter Louise Maher. AGM 2012

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting a month early to avoid the ACT Election in October this year. As always, you are all welcome to attend. All committee positions are open for nomination. Our guest speaker this year will be Jane Goffman, of Planwise ACT. She will be speaking on her knowledge of ACT-wide planning matters and town planning. Input sought on proposed 40km/h speed limit precincts

Interested Canberrans are invited by the ACT Government to provide input into the proposed boundaries for the 40 kilometre per hour (km/h) speed limit precincts in Belconnen, Civic and Tuggeranong. Following its successful introduction in Gungahlin and Woden earlier this year, the ACT Government is now introducing the reduced 40 km/h speed limit in Belconnen, Civic and Tuggeranong town centres to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

Pre-election Forum

ACT Liberal election Candidates for Molonglo will attend the third North Canberra Community Council pre-election forum, at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15 August, at ACT Sports House, 100 Maitland Street, Hackett. Candidates will discuss issues affecting North Canberra. Following the election forum, Ross Triffitt of Tennis ACT will explain the redevelopment proposal for the National Sports Club in Lyneham. We will also consider the Dickson Master Plan, redevelopment plans for Pialligo and the Downer Centre, and the Wood Heaters Amendment Bill. All North Canberra residents welcome.
