Proposed fit-out of new leased premises for the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency at the New Acton Nishi building, Edinburgh Avenue, Canberra City, ACT
The above proposal has been referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works for consideration and report to the Commonwealth Parliament. The Committee is required by the Public Works Committee Act 1969 to report to Parliament on the need for each work, if the proposed work will adequately satisfy the need, if the estimated cost of the work can be justified and the amount of revenue, if any, the work will generate for the Commonwealth.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery and assault which occurred in Acton early today (Friday, January 29).
Around 5am, the 22-year-old man was assaulted in Childers Street by another man. The victim was struck and kicked several times, causing swelling and lacerations to his face. His wallet and contents as well as his passport were stolen.

Acton is a suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Acton covers an area west of the CBD, bordered by Black Mountain to the west and Lake Burley Griffin in the south. The Australian National University campus covers most of the suburb, though also located in Acton is National Film and Sound Archive, a branch of the CSIRO and the National Museum of Australia. The population of Acton on census night 2001 was 1846 people, mostly students living at the Australian National University.
Acton was named in approximately 1843 by Lieutenant Arthur Jeffreys, RN, after a town in Denbighshire, Wales. The name of the area was kept as the suburb name when Canberra was built.
The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) is an incorporated, voluntary, not for profit, community based association operating within the North Canberra Districts of the Australian Capital Territory. NCCC is formally recognised as the peak community representative body in North Canberra representing the interests of the local residents and the communities within North Canberra. NCCC receives partial funding from the ACT Government as the peak community representative body in the North Canberra District.
