University Of CanberraThe exhibition ‘Raw’ will display the final projects of graduating University of Canberra landscape architecture students.

There will be twenty three projects in the exhibition which examine the Eastern Broadacre of Canberra and the possibilities that exist there for the future. The Eastern Broadacre is part of the valley which exists between the Federal Highway through to Hume.

This exhibition provides Canberrans with an opportunity to view diverse ideas and applications which have been created by the students. Projects examine transport issues, food security, sustainability, biodiversity and restoration in Canberra just to name a few. Areas which have been examined in detail include Pialligo, Hume, Fyshwick, Mugga Lane, the Jerrabomberra wetlands and Oaks Estate among many others. The unique setting and landscape of Canberra has provided students with varied sites which reinforce contemporary implications for designers such as the environment, social, economic and spirituality.

Canberra Times 20093010 - Excellence in teaching has its own rewards

On 30 October 2009, Canberra Times education reporter Emma MacDonald wrote an article covering the fact that two teachers both working in the North Canberra District have been singled out for their dedication to education. Majura Primary School principal Coralie McAlister was highly commended in the excellent principal category and Black Mountain School teacher Phillip Brown was highly commended in the excellent teacher category.
